Krispy Kreme and Vaccinations

No joke — this is not just a one-time offer, those with vaccine cards may return to Krispy Kreme every single day for a free doughnut through the end of 2021, talk about incentive! On March 23rd, 2021 Krispy Kreme began offering customers a free Original Glazed doughnut to those who present their vaccine card at any Krispy Kreme store in the U.S.

In a statement to NBC news, the company said, “Providing free Original Glazed doughnuts to those who get vaccinated is just another gesture that we hope sweetens people’s lives as the country accelerates to put this virus behind us.”

In a press release, Krispy Kreme Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena said, “We all want to get COVID-19 behind us as fast as possible and we want to support everyone doing their part to make the country safe by getting vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available to them.” Skena said he has hopes that other companies will join in on adding vaccine-related promotions, recognizing the impact large companies have on people’s decision.

Krispy Kreme made a clever choice to use the vaccine as a marketing tool, benefitting the general public as well as promoting their doughnuts. The promotion campaign is titled Showing Sweet Support; Let’s be sweet for our communities. The promotion has an entire page dedicated to the Covid-19 vaccine offer, with a list of facts and questions. By launching this promotion Krispy Kreme is promoting their own brand mission and values while also setting an example of how a company can support those who choose to get vaccinated. The company intended for the campaign to be big enough to catch people’s attention as well as spread awareness.

The promotion is long term for a reason, Skena said. Krispy Kreme wants people to have a chance to take advantage of it — after all, not everyone is vaccinated yet. The company has made several statements about the offer to all media outlets as well as stating they will be offering up to four hours of paid time off for each COVID-19 vaccination for its employees.

There are 369 stores in the U.S so, get to it folks!
